FX4 Off Road Package now available on 2018 Explorer

If you are an off-road enthusiast then you probably know about the FX4 package for the F150 trucks. This package adds extra goodies like skid plates, off road tuned shocks, electronic locking rear axle and Hill
Descent Control.

While this is great for the truck enthusiast those with SUVs can sometimes feel a little left behind when it comes to going off road, So for 2018 Ford had announced that the Explorer will now have the option of the FX4 package like the F150s.

While the fundamentals of the FX4 package are the same, electronic locking rear differential, skids plates and hill control decent, there are still some big differences between the two.

Part of this is thanks to Expedition’s all-new high-strength, aluminum-alloy body and redesigned high-strength steel frame, which form the foundation for its off-road and towing capabilities. The use of advanced materials saves up to 136 kg (300 pounds) in vehicle weight, which can then be reinvested to offer more technology and features than before.
